A Message from Suzi

My Story

I’ve always been someone who liked to keep things clean and organized—nothing extreme, just the basics. Growing up, I wasn’t a messy person, but like many, I had clutter in my closet with books, clothes, sentimental items, and way too many products under the bathroom sink! I used to think, “If I clean today, the bathroom should stay clean,” but I quickly relearned that cleaning is ongoing.

My dad was very organized. When I was a little girl, we would often go fishing at the Redondo Beach Pier or Santa Monica Pier, and I remember one day vividly when my dad showed me his fishing tackle box. It was full of tiny compartments holding all the little tools and hooks. I thought it was the coolest thing! He told me not to get them mixed up, and I followed his instructions to the letter.

Years later, after working in retail and various jobs using my Child Development degree, I knew I wanted a career change. I wanted to be my own boss and have a meaningful impact on others' lives. I explored several options but quickly ruled out things like becoming a doctor or working in IT. I kept circling back to what I enjoyed most in my preschool jobs: setting up toys, cleaning up, organizing, and communicating with parents. It came naturally to me, and I loved it.

I realized that even at parties, family events, or friends' homes, I’d find myself tidying up, putting things away, and organizing—especially in homes with kids! During this phase of figuring out my next step, I shared with my husband that I wanted to help parents organize their homes, especially toy rooms. I had no idea that being a Professional Organizer was a real career. I had seen people on TV make closets look beautiful but thought you needed a special degree, like an interior designer.

One day, my husband found NAPO (National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals), and I was amazed! I didn’t know this profession existed, and I was excited to learn more. We discovered an upcoming NAPO conference in Arizona and signed up. My husband was incredibly supportive, so we went as a family. That’s where everything clicked. I attended a workshop on student organizing, and it was my ah-ha moment—I realized I could combine all my experience and passion for organizing.

That’s how I started my organizing business in 2014, and it has been an incredible journey ever since.
